Chess

Our chess classes at AlphaMinds Academy offer children of all ages and levels a welcoming and friendly environment where children can learn to play chess, continue practicing and improving their skills and meet other children who are passionate about the game.  Our program is designed to take children from beginner to tournament level and guide them

through the competitive process of becoming a USCF rated chess player.

Essay Writing and ELA ISEE Prep (Gr 6-8)

Major expectation discrepancies exist in the English language curricula of middle school students versus high school students. This class aims to proactively bridge this gap, making the transition from middles school to high school a smooth one. With particular focus on essay writing, verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and test-taking skills, the overall curriculum prepares students for the ISEE high school entrance exam.

All lessons are designed to be both challenging and graspable for each student. In a fun, rewarding, and encouraging environment, students progress at an accelerated pace, building creativity, knowledge, application skills, and confidence.

Mathematics (Gr 6-8)

Our Middle School Mathematics program focuses on giving students a systematic knowledge of Algebra and Geometry, and is aligned with the Curriculum Focal Points suggested by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Our focus is teaching mathematical theories and  develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts, rather than just the rote memorization of figures, so that students develop the tools to successful problem solving, grow as mathematical thinkers, and go beyond what they are being taught at school.  These classes prepare students for the PSAT and ISEE tests.
