MATH & LOGIC (GRADES PREK 10)
At AlphaMinds Academy, we teach Mathematics based on the same curriculum that is taught in Singapore, a tiny Asian nation that leads the world in assessment tests for math and whose students are routinely rated amongst the best in the world in Mathematics. What sets Singapore Math curriculum apart is that it emphasizes core understanding of mathematical concepts and stresses problemsolving through questions that become more complex in each grade level. Singapore Math Curriculum has been adapted for the US schools and is fully aligned with the US standards. Whether your child needs additional help in their Math studies or is looking for extra challenges, our small group classes and one on one tutoring offers individualized curriculum that helps students succeed in their learning!
LOGIC PROGRAM (35 years old)
At AlphaMinds Academy, we believe that logic is fundamental. It's fundamental to mathematics, science, reasoning, cognitive thinking and so much more. Traditionally, logic is not taught in a classroom setting, but at AlphaMinds Academy we've taken the ideas and concepts of logic and transformed them into a fun and exciting class which will engage the children and get them excited about learning. Research has shown that children who are encouraged to understand the process of thinking (i.e. logic) tend to be inquisitive, creative, confident, compassionate, and communicative. Our Logic PreK class aims to help young children develop their thought process, reasoning and critical thinking skills, which will guide them throughout their formative years. This class covers all the topics found in the OLSAT® test (OtisLennon School Ability Test®) and the NNAT2® test (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test) as well as in the ERB test.
Logic PreK (34 yo)
For many children this class will be their first introduction to the world of math and logic. In this course, children will learn numbers 0 to 10 (counting and addition/subtraction), ordinal numbers 1st to 10th, common shapes, length and graphs. Through our interactive educational approach, children will be introduced to such concepts as arithmetic reasoning, classification, patterns, sequences, and analogies. Together we will be playing games and solving verbal and pictorial riddles and puzzles designed to promote logical and critical thinking.
The math portion of this course is based on the Singapore Math K(A) curricula.
