READING: PHONICS, FLUENCY, COMPREHENSION (GRADES K-2)
READING I: Phonics for Emerging Readers (Gr. PreK-K) -
In these classes, we focus on the strengthening of phonetic awareness skills through sound and word discrimination, blending, phoneme deletion and manipulation; as well as identifying and reading DOLCH sight words. This class is taught in a very interactive and engaging way by integrating various media, games and songs, as well as other activities designed to keep young students' focus and interest.
Classes are conducted in a small group setting, taught by a certified elementary school teacher who specializes in early literacy classes. This course is designed for children who are starting Kindergarten, and for any children with reading levels D and below. PreK students can enroll if showing strong signs of reading readiness.
Classes take place twice a week; the duration of each lesson is 30 minutes.
For the Fall 2022, groups are formed based on the students' reading level are as following:
Reading I-A (Pre-Primer Level): for children new to reading to reading up to level A-B
Reading I-B : for children currently reading at level C-D
READING II: Fluency for Rising Readers (Gr. 1-2) - In this course, our young readers will focus on the strengthening of phonetic awareness skills and reading fluency, as well as identifying and reading DOLCH sight words on level. Students will focus on their targeted reading goal during each session and will continue learning with home practice assignments. They will begin to develop their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and participating in discussions. This class is conducted in a small group setting led by a certified elementary school teacher who specializes in teaching early literacy. The duration of each lesson will be 60 minutes.
For the Fall 2022 session, we recommend this class to children who have completed our Reading I-B course in the past school year, and for any new students who are reading at level E-G (please email us to email@example.com for an assessment)
READING III: Comprehension and Writing Skills (Gr. 2-3) -
In this course, we focus on teaching concepts that students are expected to know by the end of the lower elementary school. It is designed for children who are looking to improve their reading, writing, grammar, and punctuation skills. Students will also work on developing critical thinking, vocabulary, and several other skills and concepts to prepare them for the upper elementary curriculum.
Our engaging lessons include easy-to-follow explanations, examples, and charts for visual learners! Each lesson consists of a variety of fun, colorful and interactive activities that promote language development and critical thinking skills. The duration of each lesson will be 60 minutes.
